Today's meet was canceled because of the erratic storms in the area and soaking wet fields from the storms last night. This meet was last Wednesday- the 19th- at Laurel Park.
It was the perfect day for a meet.
Before the race Charlotte has no jitters -- just hoisting herself along the football goals...and why not?
Then, it's racetime and the jitters set in. In her defense, she did have to run a hilly 3/4 mile and she's only used to running 1/2.
She did a good job, but was not happy with the results. (She is my child, after all...) See this little girl in the yellow above? She was blocking Charlotte! Charlotte tried to go around her 3 or 4 times and she would jump in front of her and BLOCK her. Who is teaching these girls that??? I was so mad! However, the ringer was that she got a cramp the size of shoe box towards the end and was crying...but she still came in 9th out of about 50!! Not too shabby for a kindergartener, but she thought she could do better. The little fighter.
Berkley had a GREAT race this week! She maintained her composure and kept her pace up. She looked good and felt good! We were so happy to see it! I think she came in 13th out of about 50 also.
Again, I forgot to take pictures during her race. I guess I was too into it. Plus, I was sweating like a pig from running all over the course for a second time - in pants in the heat! haha!
It was a fun meet though!
