Golden Birthday Girl

As would be expected, Charlotte has been counting down and planning (in great detail) every moment of her 6th birthday since, oh, last December. As promised, it finally arrived.
On top of the usual excitement a birthday brings, Charlotte was extra-excited because this birthday is her GOLDEN BIRTHDAY.  For those of you who aren't "in the know," that merely means she's turning the year of her birthdate. 6 on the 6th. Yes!

This golden birthday was lacking some of the normal components because it's the first time we've ever had a childs' birthday fall on a day when they would be in SCHOOL ALL DAY LONG.
That made for a rushed experience, but Charlotte didn't let that stop her.

First off, she got to wear whatever she wanted to school, instead of the uniform. Yee-haw!

During school, she got to eat her favorite lunch and bring in chocolate-covered strawberries to share with her class. She also got a suprise visit from my good friend Carla, who brought her a cupcake during lunch! So sweet.

After school, she ran cross country practice and then we booked it home for her special dinner, presents, and cake -- squeezed in before she was supposed to head to soccer practice.
It turned out that soccer was optional, so we stayed home and enjoyed our cake! (Until Berkley had to be brought to HER soccer practice. Luckily, she and daddy could do that alone.)
PHEW!

Opening some presents and reading cards.

This crazy 2-year-old was SO excited about eating more cake that she couldn't sit still during presents. She just kept running back and forth from the kitchen island (cake) to the living room (Charlotte) yelling about eating cake now!  Pretty intense.

 The happy birthday girl!
 Finally. CAKE.

Let the countdown to 7 begin!
