Cross Country Meet #2

The second meet of the season was at Lutheran North HS. The races at this location are a little shorter than everywhere else. They also are the only site to offer a Kindergarten-only race. So instead of running with the 1-2 graders, Charlotte got to race against only her fellow kindergarteners!
Here she is right after the gun. She told me later that, at this point, she was thinking that the blue girl was so fast, she was probably only gonna get second, at the very best.

But not this girl!  She soon passed her and held on to the lead.  She was very excited to get a blue ribbon! The "rabbits" in front of her didn't expect her to run so fast.  They were just jogging.  They held her up for a little while until they realized she was right there!

Here's the start of Berkley's race.  There must have been about 50 girls! Crowded. Especially since this was an out-and-back race.  Berkley was a little nervous after last meet's disappointment, but she was ready to redeem herself.

Our friends the Garretts will be at most of the meets as well since their two daughters Ellie (4th grade) and Aria (1st grade) are running Cross Country for St. John Lutheran School! Extra fun for us.  Ellie and Berkley will run in the same race. Aria and Charlotte will run in the same race sometimes too. Here is Ellie below -- in her first race ever -- doing really well!

And just a few runners behind her comes Berkley! Looking strong! Go, bug!
Coming into the finish.  Berkley did great! She picked up her pace at the end and passed a couple girls. I think she came in the top 15 -- the 2nd girl from Zion. Phew!  I think she was pretty happy with this run.

Yeah! Little runners like their Mom. So cool.
