My excuse is swim team, but the truth is we just didn't do many of the great local things that are right at our fingertips. This dawned on me the week before school started.
First up, Grant's Farm.
Ulysses S. Grant's farm.
Tram ride through large wooded acreage with free roaming bison, cattle, antelope, turkeys and more.
(Caged) ostriches, camels, exotic birds, and goats to pet and feed.
Clydesdales.
Free beer for adults. Free tram. Free animal show.
Free entry.
This was taken while riding through the park in the tram. They get pretty close!
Hazel's still talking about how the "goat. lick. me." She didn't care for that.
Second up, Old Faithful: the Zoo.
Charlotte brought her buddy from preschool, Aidan.
Monkey!
Hazel acts out every animal she sees. Cute stuff.
As is this.
This is the new sea lion exhibit. Really cool!
As usual, the zoo rocked. It was particularly nice that the heat broke and the weather this whole week was pleasant.
Since school was on the horizon, the girls thought it would be a good time to test out those running legs.
And then we squeezed in a couple quick bike rides over to the Laurel Park playground! phew!
This one wouldn't pause long enough to let me take her picture. She looooves this playground!
Ok, now we're ready...here we go, school!
