At the beginning of August, we planned to camp at Warren Dunes State Park, right by Jason's family on Lake Michigan. As it turned out, his grandmother passed away the day before we left, so we stayed up there for her funeral as well.
Playing a little frisbee.
Showoff.
Emily and Hazel
Everyone wanted a turn to stand in dad's deep hole.
Hiking up the dune
By the end, Hazel thought it was easier to crawl up.
Of course, running down is the best part!

300 yd swim - 18.6 mile bike - 3.1 mile run
I was dethroned from my second place finish from past few years and came in third. Darn bike. In my defense, the second place woman had an IRONMAN tattoo. Nuff said.
Grandpa rode his motorcycle out to visit us, helped us frame in the basement bathroom and bedroom, watched my race, and hung out with the girls. He then headed out to Denver for an Iron Butt Conference. Yes, that's really a thing! Thanks for coming to visit, pops!

Lake St. Louis Triathlon 8-23-14
.92 mile open water swim - 24.2 mile bike - 6.2 mile run
98°F, 82% humidity, heat advisory
I'm going to apologize right now for all the pictures of me in a spandex suit.
Pink cap wave
Starting off on the bike, having just noticed that someone stole my bike computer while I was swimming! For real.
Finishing up the bike...
and starting on the run. The hot, painful run. The excruciating, delirious run.
What you can't see are the heat waves emanating from my head and the cold sweats all over my heat-exhausted body.
Once I rehydrated, I could tell you how fun it really was!
And I definitely have the best looking fans out there.
