We DID it! We went camping with a baby...and I'm looking forward to her being older the NEXT time we go! ha!
The older girls couldn't WAIT! We headed to Lake of the Ozarks for 2 nights of camping. Of course, I wonder about these trips...it takes 2 days to pack and 1 day to unpack for less than 48 hours of camping!
Camp.
First things first: Charlie assumes her position in front of the firepit. (Does it matter that there is no fire?)
"Mom, it's so dark!!" Yes, my kids don't know what NIGHT looks like! They go to bed so early that things like darkness, stars, and fireflies are wonders to behold.
Hanging in front of that fire (front and center, believe me) and Berkley doing a little sketching in her nature journal.
GHOST STORIES (not scary ones.)
(can you say drama queen?)
The funny thing is, we couldn't hear a word either of them said. Hazel was sleeping in the tent, so they were whispering...and we couldn't hear it over the sound of the cicadas!
Happy helpers
Hazel managed to have a little fun too, even sleep-deprived.
Chillin' at camp. She just looks so comfortable and settled in!
At this point, our friends the Thoelkes joined us for our last night and for our trip to Laura Ingalls Wilder's homestead in Mansfield, MO. We had a great time!! BUT I lost my camera battery between now and then, so I will have to post pics of that part of the trip once I get them from Kate. It was lots of fun to see all Laura's things and Pa's fiddle in her home with Almanzo and Rose. Guess you could call us die-hard fans.

Oooh, I can't wait to go camping with Bea. Looks like fun! And I heart Laura Ingalls Wilder.
